The following devices are recommended for both new users and experienced users alike, ranging from easy to set up to more DIY solutions
Beginner Devices
These devices are designed to be “plug-and-play”, requiring little to no setup besides flashing firmware.
SenseCAP Card Tracker T1000-E for Meshtastic
A simple credit-card sized device, the T1000-E is one of the easiest ways to get started with Meshtastic. It is “ready to go” out of the box, and connects to your phone over Bluetooth for sending messages and connecting to MQTT
- Pros:
- Relatively cheap (~$40)
- Small form factor
- GPS and Battery included
- IP65 rating
- Long battery life
- Cons:
- Limited range
- No external antenna support
- Compatibility issues with older SX127x radios
RAKwireless WisMesh Tag
Another credit-card sized device, the WisMesh Tag is very similar to the T1000-E, but with a few small (but significant!) upgrades over the T1000-E
- Pros:
- Relatively cheap (~$50)
- Small form factor
- GPS and Battery included
- IP66 rating
- Longer battery life
- SX1262 LoRa Transceiver
- Cons:
- Limited range
- No external antenna support
RAKwireless WisMesh Pocket v2
Small, hand-held, and has a screen! The WisMesh Pocket V2 is another “ready to go” device with a long battery life and small form-factor, as well as an external antenna. Connects to your phone over Bluetooth for sending messages and connecting to MQTT
- Pros:
- External Antenna
- GPA and Battery included
- Long battery life
- Small form factor
- Small OLED display
- Cons:
- No IP rating
- More expensive (~$90)
